Clarity to soar
I help high achievers figure out what’s next and make it real.
Hi 👋 I’m Ruth Ong. I bring 20 years of corporate leadership and design to help high achievers standing at the top of the mountain find what’s next. This might be you if you’ve optimized your whole career but now feel unsure if this ladder was ever meant for you. Maybe you’re torn between ambition and burnout. Together, we’ll figure out what’s worth building toward.
First conversation’s on me.
I help you find your…
Excellence
Develop as a leader inside-out. This could look like a promotion, owning executive presence, overcoming imposter syndrome or launching a new product.
Balance
Make peace with tradeoffs. This could look like recovering from burnout, building boundaries or navigating work, health and family.
Meaning
Identify what’s important to live your values. This could look like switching careers, goal-setting, future-visioning, or simply said: banishing the Sunday scaries.
Connection
Build stronger relationships. This could look like harmony in the office, rewriting your role in the family, or simply finding your human-ness in the age of AI.
Ruth has shown me how to show up with executive presence and lead with integrity. Her thoughtful, nuanced perspective, paired with practical clarity, has guided me through some of my most challenging personal and professional moments. I’m deeply grateful for her lasting impact on my growth.
S.W., Senior Product Designer, Google
I.L., Senior Product Designer, Bytedance
Ruth exemplifies true coaching. She listens deeply, understands people at their core and offers thoughtful, empowering guidance. She helped me see a brighter perspective, embrace my authentic self to grow professionally and personally. Her steady wisdom creates a space where I feel supported, challenged and inspired.
A.S., Senior Product Designer, BetterHelp
Ruth helped me transition from toy to product designer. I learnt how to tell my story succinctly and authentically, a core senior PD behavior which I credit for my conversion to full-time employee at BetterHelp! The personal clarity I gained helped me choose a role that aligns with my passion of mental health.
Ruth’s coaching pushed me to approach problems from a perspective I wouldn’t have thought of. She deepened my understanding of the UX practice, broadened my horizons on the role of design, and always encouraged me to pursue what’s right, not what’s easy.

Coaching might be for you if you’ve been feeling stuck and need an objective, 3rd party partner for clarity, accountability and a plan to break through. Finding the ‘right’ coach for you then boils down to chemistry, background, approach and budget.

I take a holistic approach to grow your whole person, not just eliminate a problem. So while we will absolutely tackle the immediate topic, I focus on your personal growth that then resolves the topic. Examples of personal growth areas and topics:
Personal excellence. Promotions, performance, executive presence, entrepreneurship.Living with purpose. Career pivots, crafting your ideal professional role, corporate exits.
Managing Balance. Work-life balance, boundaries, burnout.
Relationships. Workplace harmony, family roles, your internal dialogue.

The right coach is a combination of chemistry, background, approach and budget. I bring my immigrant, female, minority, corporate-executive background to the relationship, which if you share commonalities, might help you feel seen and understood more quickly. My interpersonal approach is direct, empathetic and firm. Ultimately, I’m ‘right’ for you if you feel safe in a relationship with me. I offer a complimentary first session to suss out mutual fit, and am always happy to refer other coaches if they’ll be a better fit for you.

In coaching, you drive the program and solution. You have the answers, and I facilitate and accompany your journey forward. I’m trained in the Co-Active model where clients are viewed as inherently whole, creative and resourceful. There is no hierarchy between us. My approach focuses on growing your whole person, so that your current and future ‘problems’ shrink. The emphasis is on your inherent self-sufficiency.
In therapy, mentorship and career/executive coaching, the therapist/mentor/consultant is positioned as the ‘expert,’ healing/teaching you about your past, the industry, professional skills etc. The expert is ‘more’ (experienced, accredited, knowledgeable…), and you soak in their expertise. While you may resolve your current problem, the focus isn’t on your eventual self-sufficiency.
Coaching works well in tandem with these other support functions. For example, a therapist might help you gain insight into the past, and a coach then helps you put those insights into action in the present.

Sessions are over Zoom, or in-person in NYC. Our first session is 1.5hrs, mining your values and co-creating our coaching collaboration. Subsequently, we’ll have ‘core sessions,’ to review last session’s action items, dive into new developments on your topic, and ending with new action items for you. You’re in charge, always. You set your action items, accountability tactics and the speed of change.
Typical core session:
5m – Reviewing action items
5m – Setting the agenda
45m – Exploring the topic
5m – Setting new action itemsI offer flexible working models. If you just need to get unstuck, 1 session might be enough. Longer, habit changes take time, and you’ll typically need 5 – 10 sessions to see results.
I’m trained in the Co-Active model and adhere to the standards and ethics upheld by the International Coaches Federation (ICF).
